

PMKC Partner Christian P. Porter was a featured panelist at the Hawaiian Properties Annual Seminar for Board Members held on August 9th. Porter discussed various new laws enacted related to condominium governance and answered questions about vacation rentals as part of the 2019 Legislative wrap up.


PMKC Senior Associate Seth Harris was a featured speaker at the Leeward Regional Group of the Honolulu Board of Realtors meeting on Wednesday, July 17, 2019. Harris reviewed the Financial Restraining Order Act 213 and discussed common problems realtors encounter when selling real property in divorce situations and how to proactively prevent situations that will ultimately slow down the process of real estate sales.
PMKC Partner R. Laree McGuire spoke with Jane Sugimura on ThinkTech Hawaii’s Condo Insider on May 23, 2019. McGuire discussed Senate Bill 551 which deals with nonjudicial foreclosures and what it means to condo owners and associations.

Laree McGuire recently been appointed to the Legislative Action Committee for the Hawaii Branch of Community Associations Institute (CAI). As a member, McGuire will draft legislative testimony, attend legislative hearings on various bills related to community and condominium associations and assist in drafting potential legislation.
She has also been appointed for a one-year term to the Hawaii Council of Community Associations (HCCA) board.
McGuire has more than 20 years of expertise in condominium and community association law and co-founded Porter McGuire Kiakona & Chow, LLP. The firm has been in existence since 1981.

Vanessa Wen, is a rising second-year law student attending the William S. Richardson School of Law at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, Vanessa is in American Constitution Society for Law and Policy, Delta Theta Phi, and Phi Delta Phi, and will be focusing on real estate, community association, construction and commercial litigation this summer.
Christopher Han is a rising third-year law student attending the William S. Richardson School of Law at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, Chris is a part of the Asian-Pacific Law and Policy Journal and the Client Counseling Team, and will be focusing on real estate, community association, construction and commercial litigation this summer.
Sarah Ertle is also a rising third-year law student attending the William S. Richardson School of Law at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Sarah is a Domestic Mediator at the Mediation Center of the Pacific, a Group Facilitator at the Circuit Court Kids First program, a recipient of the Eleanor Silvers Cohen Fellowship in Juvenile Justice and Family Law, and a member of Richardson’s National Trial Practice Team and will be focusing on family law this summer.
