The Honolulu law firm of Porter McGuire Kiakona & Chow, LLP (PMKC) is pleased to announce Maxwell K. Kopper as partner.
Kopper has served as an attorney at PMKC since 2016. As partner, he will continue representing clients addressing construction, business, real estate, and community association governance disputes. He joins current PMKC partners Christian P. Porter, R. Laree McGuire, Kapono F.H. Kiakona, and Bryson R. Chow.
“Maxwell is an accomplished legal professional and author who brings a wealth of experience to our clients, particularly in the areas of community association law, construction litigation and commercial litigation,” said Porter. “We warmly welcome him as partner, where he will help lead our exceptional legal team of 16 attorneys.”
His publications include co-authoring “Crying Over Spilt Milk: Recognizing Hawaii’s Unique State Characteristics in the Context of the Dormant Commerce Clause,” published in the 2010 edition of the University of Hawaii Law Review, and “A Tale of Two Territories: Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and the Island State,” published in the September 2012 edition of the Hawaii Bar Journal.
Kopper holds a Juris Doctorate from the University of Hawaii William S. Richardson School of Law, where he graduated cum laude. He was born in Hilo and is a graduate of Kamehameha Schools.
